BMW Advertising
BMW naturally ran a corresponding advertising campaign for its new flagship models in the /5 series. I like to show you some old advertisements from the years 1969 to 1973, which come from various motorcycle magazines.
A little history of BMW advertising:
In 1917, the distinctive BMW logo was created. The colors white and blue symbolize the state colors of Bavaria. The myth that the logo is a rotating propeller is still alive and is neither confirmed nor denied by BMW. This white and blue logo with a black ring has been the catchy and central element in all BMW presentations from the very beginning; years before the aircraft engine manufacturer built its first cars and motorcycles. Around 1930, the word "Joy" first appeared in BMW advertisements. A poster for BMW motorcycles shown in 1936 declared: "Driving a motor car must be a joy!" In the 1950s, various advertising slogans were used before a central slogan was finally settled on. Since 1972, the slogan "BMW - (For) Sheer Driving Pleasure" has been used worldwide in conjunction with the well-known BMW logo.
